Some current problems of the history of Adyghes (Cherkassians)

In this article, the author analyzes the state of historiography of the Republic of Adygea. Scientists of the republic pay special attention to historical science, considering it as one of the determinants of the state of society, solving the main task of our time in the formation of self-awareness and national consciousness of the population of a multinational country as a whole, a republic, a region, a region.
Undoubtedly, all this requires a particularly careful attitude to scientific historical works, an analysis of the state of the new stage in the development of science, i.e. in the new conditions of Russia, within which the Adygea Republic remains an organic part of the country. Of course, solving these problems in difficult times requires consideration of the situation and concentration of efforts in supporting science and its development.
The proposed review presents an analysis of the study of priority areas of the history of the republic related to the creation of conditions for ensuring the security of the country, republic, family, determining the place and role of the republic in Russian civilization. The reader receives answers to many of the controversial problems of the development of historical science in the republic.
Methods. The article is based on well-known methods of historical research, both in the history of the past and in modern conditions. Among the methods and principles of historical science involved is the method of systematic analysis of literature concerning the consideration of various problems in the history of Adygea, the Circassians in their evolution; method of comparative analysis, method of studying historical sources, the principle of consociality, the chronological principle and others.
In the analysis of historical research by leading historians and ethnographers, it is also very important to assess the state of the auxiliary discipline - archaeology.
Results. The focus is on the author's appeal to the works of scientists of both national and republican significance, working in the system of humanities.
In a word, the reader will get acquainted with the Adyghe school of scientists, specializing in different areas of historical science, participating in many endeavors in the preparation of works on an All-Russian scale.
The reader will also become acquainted with the debatable issues existing in the historical science of Adygea and Circassians related to the ancient stages of the history of certain events being studied, the role and place of historical science both in all-Russian history and in the history of the USSR, Russia and world history. On such issues as forced migration into the territory of residence of the Circassians, representatives of other ethnic communities, the attitude of society towards migrants from the Circassians, the situation of other communities, the role and place of the peoples of Adygea in Russia, and in connection with this, the attitude towards the civilization of the peoples of the North Caucasus.
